What Is E-Liquid?
E-liquid (also known as vape juice) is the fluid inserted into various vaping devices and is the substance which gives the vapor its flavor and nicotine (if applicable). When the user takes a hit on their vaping device, the battery will heat up the e-liquid, giving the user a smooth vapor sensation. E-liquids come in a huge variety of different flavors, nicotine strengths, bottle sizes, and more, giving users an abundance of customizable options.
What’s In E-Liquid?
E-liquids have a very simple composition, especially when compared to their cigarette counterpart. They use a base combination of Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin, which are then combined with natural or artificial flavoring such as cherry, or apple and liquid nicotine in a variety of strengths. Propylene Glycol is a simple flavoring carrier used primarily in food products, such as food coloring. Vegetable Glycerin is a sweet, vegetable based liquid also widely used in the food industry. Both of the core ingredients in vape juice are non-toxic and very simple in nature, which is what makes vaping devices so attractive as a smoking cessation.
What Are the Different Types of E-Liquid?
Just like the variety of vaping devices, e-liquid comes in many different types and strengths. The bottom line is that vaping comes with 2 core types. Standard vaping with atomizers above 1.0 ohms, and then sub-ohm vaping with atomizers less than 1.0 ohms. The way in which a user will inhale vapor depends on the style of vaping they prefer. Standard vaping uses the common mouth to lung style, which means the user inhales the vapor into your mouth first and then inhales. Sub-ohm style is a direct lung hit, which is when a user draws the vapor directly from the vaping device into their lungs.
With these two major differences, the type of e-liquid one uses must coincide with the appropriate device. Juices with PG level above 50% should use atomizers above 1.0 ohms. Vape juices with a VG content above 50% should use atomizers below 1.0 ohms. Using the wrong type of juice with the wrong atomizer could lead to an unsatisfactory vaping experience, including spitback, small vapor hits, and more.
How Long Does E-Liquid Last?
Most e-liquids can be kept on the shelf for two years, as long as they’re stored properly. Once the seal has been broken and air is now able to get to the vape juice, expect it to last 2-3 months before beginning to change taste or vape differently.
