E-liquid (or vape juice) is a fluid that is used in vaporizers to replicate the action of smoking tobacco. It is made out of four main ingredients, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, food flavoring, and nicotine. To vape e-liquid, the consumer vaporizes the juice at a high temperature using a device and inhales the vapor produced. The main use of e-liquid is to give nicotine users a healthier alternative to tobacco products. A user can purchase E-liquid online at a variety of online vape shops with an age restriction of 21 and over.
What are the different types of E-liquid?
You may not think so, but there are several different variations of e-liquid. The most important factor that differentiates the types of e-liquid is the vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG) ratio. Vegetable glycerin has a thicker consistency and produces more vapor clouds while propylene glycol tends to be runnier and enhance the flavor. Today we will be going over the 4 main types of e-liquid and their uses:
House E-liquid– house e-liquid is the most common mixture in the vaping community. It normally consists of a blend of VG/PG at a 70/30 ratio. The nicotine levels for house liquid typically sits between 0mg and 24mg. This blend has a great amount of cloud production while still delivering a nice impactful burst of flavor. House e-liquid can be used in almost any vaping device although most people prefer to use this blend with their sub ohm devices or starter kits. This blend is great for beginners who don’t have as much knowledge on the industry because you can use this juice with a variety of different types of vaporizers.
Salt Nic E-liquid- Salt Nic is an e-liquid that has a higher concentration of nicotine. Due to the higher amount of nicotine in the e-liquid, the blood absorption rate is increased leading to a quicker intake of nicotine. Salt Nic e-liquid typically runs at a VG/PG ratio of 50/50 and has a thicker consistency than house liquid because of the high amount of nicotine in the liquid, which usually runs between 24mg and 60mg. Salt Nic is great for people trying to quit smoking tobacco products because it delivers a similar throat hit and nicotine levels, while mimicking the amount of smoke produced as well. Salt Nic also satisfies your nicotine craving faster while using less juice making it slightly more cost efficient. Salt Nic is mostly used in MTL kits/pod systems and low vapor production devices. It is not recommended to use salt Nic with sub ohm devices due to the large amounts of nicotine you would be consuming. This blend is for users looking for a more discreet way of vaping or for people looking to quit tobacco products.
MTL E-liquid- MTL e-liquid is an e-liquid that is very similar to salt Nic. It has a very similar consistency and also has a VG/PG ratio of 50/50. The biggest difference between salt Nic and MTL e-liquid is the nicotine levels. While salt Nic has a high amount of nicotine, MTL e-liquids are more comparable to house juice, running anywhere from 0mg to 24 mg. Like house e-liquid, MTL e-liquid can be used in a variety of different types of vaporizers such as MTL kits, Starter kits, and sub ohm devices. It is commonly used as a substitute for salt Nic because of the similar hit and liquid consistency, while having a lower amount of nicotine. but can also be used in sub ohm devices as well. MTL juice is great for experienced consumers who are looking for a smooth throat hit while sticking to lower nicotine levels.
Drip e-liquid- Drip e-liquid is an e-liquid that has a very thick consistency and produces the max amount of vapor. Drip e-liquid is made up of 100% VG with the only trace of PG found in the added flavoring. Drip e-liquid is used by people who are looking to get huge amounts of vapor produced while not minding the lack of flavor. Drip e-liquid is a good choice for people who are experienced users especially those who are looking to learn different vape tricks such as blowing o’s.
Is E-liquid the same as vape juice?
Depending on the population you ask the answers may vary. Generally speaking, when people hear "e-liquid" they tend to think of it in terms of liquid nicotine as the base. Those that are newer to vaping may confuse e-liquid with ejuice. However, ejuice is just one type of e-liquid. Other ingredients can be used for an e-liquid base, including propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), and flavorings. There are also some companies that use all three bases to create their unique product. This is where the lines begin to blur.
That being said, while it depends on who you ask, the definition we generally ascribe to is as follows: E-liquid is a combination of liquid nicotine, PG/VG base, and flavorings. Vape juice is usually referred to a mixture of PG/VG and flavorings. Are There any Side Effects caused by using E-liquid?
The vaping industry is still considered new to the world and it is hard to really know all the effects e-liquid has on the human body. Some things researchers have found is vaping can lead to minor issues involving the lungs, such as shortness of breath or coughing. Also, another effect that has been found is poisoning due to inhaling vapor that was made using non regulated products. One of the big factors in e-liquid that has some side effects is nicotine. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance which can lead to withdrawals depending on the person. Nicotine can also cause nicotine poisoning if too much is consumed leading to symptoms such as nausea, headaches, stomach aches, vomiting, dizziness, dehydration, and anxiety. Although there are some side effects to using e-liquid it still is a healthier alternative to smoking tobacco. There are many chemicals used in tobacco products that can lead to cancer. While studies are still being done on e-liquid, the only substance with a downside is nicotine.
The vaping community is growing with every passing day and that includes the development of e-liquid. E-liquid has come a long way since the vaping industry came to life. No matter what kind of smoker you are, there is an e-liquid that will fit your tastes and needs delivering your perfect hit. E-liquid is the foundation for vaping and will continue to help pave the path to a healthier alternative to consume nicotine.
